Cauliflower pepper fry

Ingredients

Cauliflower - 1 head (cut into florets)
garlic - 2-3 cloves
green chilli - 3-4 (depending on how spicy you want it)
Small onions - 12 to 13
mustard seeds - 1 teas spoon
oil to fry

To grind: (Fry all the ingredients in ghee prior to grinding them)

small onions- 8-9 pieces
red chillies - 3-4 pieces
Ghee to fry the ingredients
cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper - 1 teaspoon

Method

1) Boil a bowl of water and remove the bowl from fire.
2) Soak cauliflower florets in the hot water. Remove in 1 minute to prevent the florets from cooking. This is done to remove any hidden worms or insects from the cauliflower
3) Take a Kadai. Heat 2-3 table spoons of oil.
4) Crackle the mustard seeds.
5) Once the mustard seeds crackle, fry the onions.
6) As soon as the onions get transaparent, fry the garlic and the green chillies.
7) As soon as you get the aroma, add the florets with couple of teaspoons of water and cover the kadai with a lid, so that the florets cook.
8) Remove from lid to see if the florets have cooked. Add the paste in and make sure all the florets have cooked.
9) Remove from fire.
10) Serve hot with chapathis or rice.

My first recipe- Beef Double pepper fry

This is a recipe gifted to me by Mil. It smells really good. My husband loves this dish but hey you need to have this in moderation. This is a real treat. It goes well with rice/chapathis/pooris/Parathas. You can serve it as an appetizer also.

Beef Double Fry:

Ingredients-

Beef- 1/2 Kilo
1 Egg
Black ground pepper to taste
water - 1/4 cup

Paste:
Ginger garlic paste-3 tsp Spoons
Garam masala- 1 tsp spoon
Lemon juice - 1/2 lemon
Salt taste
Pepper
Canola oil as required.
Coconut oil (optional)

Method-
1)Pressure cook the beef in in 1/4 cup of water and add salt and pepper.
You needn't add lot of water to the beef b'coz beef releases a lot of water

2)Make the paste using ginger garlic paste, garam masala, egg and lemon juice

3) After the beef cooks and cools, dip all the pieces into the paste make sure you coat all of the pieces

4) Take a shallow pan and heat oil . Once the oil heats up add pieces of beef into the oil. Add pepper while frying. Turn the slices over add pepper again if you wish so.

5) Take out the beef streaks and lay it over a tissue paper in a plate so as to soak any extra oil.

6) I add 1/2 tsp coconut oil to it, to give it tht kerala touch.

Garnish it with fresh sliced red onions and lemon slices.
Serve it with rice/chapathis/pooris/parathas.

I served them with Pooris and Raita. It is a heavenly combination.

Another Brick in the wall.....

Hello everybody,

My name is Amritha. I have been reading and browsing through cooking blogs ever since i got married and came into the United states. I have learnt so much about cooking, I just cant imagine how i would have survived without the help of all my fellow bloggers.
I have always had this great passion for cooking and baking ever since i was a kid, but i was never been given a chance to experiment on my tests by my folks. Now i have a kitchen lab to my self and my husband to test on ; ) .
I have been a vegetarian since the year 2000( that was some new resolution to put up with). Eight long years have gone past now. Initially it was difficult, but now i have learnt to put up with it. My husband is a hard core non-vegetarian. There is no day that goes by where he eat his meat and proteins. So i have learnt a lot of Non-veg dishes and vegetarian dishes also.
So here i start blogging all my favorite heart healthy recipes.
